For some unknown reason I just couldn’t get it to work on here!?
How much for a domain name!?!?
Posted by: | CommentsI recently enquired about the domain name www.cartoonstudio.com as I have the .co.uk and .biz versions. Here’s the reply I got…
Thank you for your inquiry.
Please be advised that the current owner of the domain name does not really sell many names.
However, if you wish to pursue the purchase of the domain, the current registrant has advised us we can forward offers $100,000.00 USD or higher to determine if they want to consider the offer.
$100,000.00! Looks like I’ll have to stick with what I’ve got unless I have a multi-million lottery win!

I have loadsa money - let me buy a .com domain name!
At least no other cartoonist will be able to afford it either – if they wanted it!?
Loser Lee cartoon strip!
Posted by: | CommentsA client asked me if I had any ‘circus’ related cartoons. I knew I’d drawn a cartoon on ‘tight rope walking’ one some years. And managed to find it in an old ‘Loser Lee’ cartoon strip I created twenty odd years ago. Why I ever thought a ‘loser’ cartoon character would be a success I’ll never know!
Here’s one of them…

It wasn’t the sort of thing my client was after by the way!
Get Motivated with Cartoon Motivators!
Posted by: | CommentsHere’s a cartoon from my other blog http://www.motivationalcartoons.co.uk

Cartoon FLIP BOOK to illustrate change of company name!
Posted by: | CommentsThis was something a bit different for me to draw up – even after all my years drawing cartoons I’d never done artwork for a flip book. You’ve seen those books where you flip through the pages to produce an animation!?
Brian Belstirling of The Copy Center asked me if I was able to morph their old logo ‘The Copy Center’ into his new company logo ‘Commerce Print Strategies’. He provided high res files for both logos and then we discussed a few ideas and finally agreed that we would pump up the old logo until it blew up and then all the bits floated down into the new one.
Here’s Brian’s original sketch…

Most embarrassing client meeting!
Posted by: | CommentsI don’t usually meet clients at home – but in this case the client was local to me and popped in to my house to discuss a caricature job.(I work from home now – I did have a studio in town for about 12 years.) My dog Jet couldn’t resist being in on the meeting while the lady in question was briefing me for three caricatures.
The embarrassing thing was – Jet kept dropping stinkers!
How embarrassing was this?
Luckily she saw the funny side of it – Jet got booted out of the meeting and I did go onto complete the three caricatures!
You guessed it – I won’t be conducting any more client meetings at home!
Wacom graphics tablet!
Posted by: | CommentsI’ve had Wacom graphic tablets for a few years now – they’ve gathered loads of dust! I’ve never got around to using them properly. I’m a cartoonist of the old school – pen and ink on cartridge paper.(Then scanning into my Mac.)
So, I’ve finally decided it time to use my A4 sized one. (It cost me a pretty penny!) My thinking behind this is to eliminate me going from my computer to my drawing board, drawing and then going back to the computer and scanning in. Doesn’t sound much when my drawing board is two feet away from my computer.
One of my favorite excuses for not using the tablet is: ‘you have to look at the screen to draw and it’s just not natural’. I know there are now really expensive versions of the Wacom tablets (Cintiq 12WX) where you draw directly onto a screen – but my wife won’t let me buy one!
Anyway, here’s a cartoon I just made up as I went along.

I suppose this works fine for the quick drawing style. But normally I tend to rough out my cartoons in pencil and then trace over them neatening them up as I go along on a light box.
Watch this space – or Ebay if I decide to sell it.

Cartoon Wedding map!
Posted by: | CommentsHi,
It’s wedding season here and I’ve recently produced a little wedding map to help guests find the church and then afterwards help them get to the reception. Now isn’t that a very neat idea – not mine but from the guy how commissioned it.(I’m full of ideas but he beat me to this one!)

Wedding map for directions to church and reception.
Sports Quotes!
Posted by: | CommentsDon’t you just love sports quotes? I know I do, quotes that inspire me, quotes to learn from. I’d write them down – even draw little cartoons to go with them. I’d look at them over and over again. I’d stick them on my wall, next to my computer screen and anywhere that I’d see them on a regular basis. Hopefully the following quotes on my new blog will inspire you and your friends. Share and enjoy them!

Have a look and let me know what you think – it’s very early days but any feedback will be appreciated.
